Frequently asked questions

Does Frihet submit to HMRC?
Not yet. Frihet handles invoicing, expense tracking, and financial reporting that feeds directly into your Self Assessment prep. You or your accountant submit to HMRC using the data Frihet organises for you.
Is Frihet compatible with Making Tax Digital (MTD)?
Frihet tracks your income and expenses in the format MTD requires. For VAT-registered freelancers, you can export MTD-ready reports. Direct MTD submission is on the roadmap.
Do I need to be VAT registered to use Frihet?
No. Frihet works for sole traders below and above the VAT threshold. If you're VAT registered, you can add VAT to invoices and track it separately.
Can I use Frihet alongside my accountant?
Yes. Most UK freelancers use Frihet for day-to-day invoicing and expenses, then share clean reports with their accountant at year-end. Export to CSV or PDF in one click.
What payment methods can my clients use?
Frihet integrates with Stripe, PayPal, and GoCardless for UK Direct Debit. Clients can pay invoices instantly via a payment link.
How much does it cost?
Free forever with unlimited invoicing. Paid plans start at £8/month for team features and priority support.
